He who Eats My Flesh and Drinks My Blood Abides in me and I in him.

Friday 10th May, 2019. Read Acts 9:1-20, Psalm 117 and John 6:52-59

_*“A light from heaven flashed about him. And he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, ‘Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?’ And he said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And he said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting…” (Acts 9:3-5)*_

There is a perfect sync between both our first reading and our Gospel passage today. To eat and drink the flesh and blood of Christ is to abide in Christ; it is to have Christ literally live inside of us. And if Christ is living inside you, anyone who persecutes you is actually persecuting Christ and Christ feels it. Hence, when Saul was destroying Christians, Christ felt it so much that he accosted him on the road to Damascus and asked him: “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”

When we are in communion with Jesus; when we receive his body and blood in a state of Grace having properly prepared and actively participated at Mass, we must realize that we are no longer ordinary human beings but God-carriers. We should, therefore, remove every iota of fear from our hearts and trust that the God we carry is truly a protector of his children.

For our sake, God can melt the heart of even the most hardened criminal who wants to make life difficult for us. As I write this, I call on us all to join me in serious prayers for all priests currently in the hands of kidnappers. Just as Jesus felt the pain of the early Christians, I am confident that Jesus feels the pains of our poor priests who are being held hostage for ransom. May God melt their hearts and bring them to conversion. May Christ who abides in us by virtue of Holy Communion fight this battle for us to the end. Amen.

As the saying goes: “you are what you eat.” We are Holy because we eat Holy Communion. We do not have money, we are living under the vow of poverty; we survive based on the charity of others. The only thing we have is who we are; communicants; people who abide in Christ and Christ also abides in them.

Let us Pray: Lord Jesus, you live in me. There is no mountain too great for you. Come to the defence of your children. Amen.

Be Happy. Live Positive. Have Faith. It is well with you. God bless you. (Friday of the 3rd Week of Easter. Bible Study: Acts 9:1-20, Psalm 117 and John 6:52-59).
