Have I Grown Cold Spiritually?

Monday 16th November 2020. Read Revelation 1:1-8, Psalm 1:1-6 and Luke 18:35-43

Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.” (Luke 18:42)

Can you take your mind to the moment you became a Christian? Do you recall the days when your love for God was hotter than fire? Perhaps, your days of catechism? Do you remember when you gave your life to Christ? So what went wrong? What happened to that burning fire? How come you no longer feel so enthusiastic about the things of God anymore?’

Like the blind man in our Gospel passage, most of us have lost our spiritual sight. We knew how close we were to God before, back then, most of us could see. We knew the gifts God gave to us then, how we couldn’t afford to let a single day pass without spending up to an hour in personal prayer and meditation, how we so loved the Bible that we carried it everywhere.

We have allowed the pleasures of this world, the vanishing vanities of this world to blind our eyes. Even though we still attend church regularly, our prayer life is in shambles. We no longer know which book of the Bible comes before which, we no longer see visions; we no longer spend time meditating.

Like the blind man who called out to Jesus vehemently, let us go on our knees to beg for restoration. Let us not allow anyone to distract us or prevent us from calling on Jesus. Let us pray that our eyes would be open again. Let us pray that we may return to our first love.

Call on Jesus with faith that he who did not refuse sight to the man sitting at the roadside will look with mercy and restore your sight in the spirit.

Let us pray:  Lord Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! Amen.

Be Happy. Live Positive. Have Faith. It is well with you. God bless you. (Monday of the 33rd Week in Ordinary Time. Bible Study: Revelation 1:1-8, Psalm 1:1-6 and Luke 18:35-43).
