THE WISDOM OF NOAH. (Homily for November 11, 2016. Friday of 32nd Week in Ordinary Time.)

Bible Study:  2ND John 4 to 9 and Luke 17, 26 to 37.

“As it was in the days of Noah, or as in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah, men were eating and drinking freely until all of a sudden, it rained fire and brimstone.” Could it be that Jesus is telling us to fast perpetually? Never to eat or drink again? Of course, No.

Rather, just like Noah who had the foresight to build an Ark in obedience to God’s command, Jesus is telling today to obey God’s commandment as our own way of preparing for tomorrow.

No one knows what tomorrow holds. No one ever believed that the most-widely criticized Politician would become President of America. Indeed, as Jesus said, no one knows the hour or the time that the Son of Man shall come.

Again as many claimed to receive vision regarding a female President, St. John tells us in our first reading, many will come with false accounts. John calls them deceivers. “Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh; such is the deceitful one and the antichrist.”

Dear friends, it is not for us to predict the future, all we have to do is to Prepare ahead. And how can we be prepared? St. John tells us in the first reading: “Let us love one another. For this is love – that we walk according to his commandments.”

Today, we celebrate the memorial of a Saint who began his working career as a military officer as early as 15. His father was also a military officer. One day, he saw a beggar on the street shivering with cold. He felt pity for this poor beggar so he decided to divide his coat into two and gave one half to the beggar to save him from dying.

That same night, Jesus Christ appeared to him wearing that same half coat which he had given to the poor beggar. This was the experience that totally transformed the life of St. Martins. Not long after that, he became baptized and converted his mum to the faith. He soon left home and became a monk. And as time went on, he was appointed Bishop of the city of Tours in France, an apostolate he carried out with all diligence and exemplary excellence.

Let us Pray: Lord Jesus, increase my wisdom like that of Noah. Amen.

Be Happy. Live Positive. Have Faith. It is well with you. God bless you.
